The Diedre Buchanan "Spirit of Love" award is named for a long-time Hoyleton employee who dedicated herself to caring for foster care clients.  The award is given annually, at Hoyleton’s appreciation banquet, to foster parents who go beyond what is required in caring for children.

This year’s recipients were the mother-daughter team of Jean and Juanita Frazier.  In 2006, the Fraziers began working with Hoyleton Youth and Family Services, and have opened their home to more than 15 children in need.  They have never turned down a placement and have been willing to work with some of the most misunderstood clients – teenagers.

The Fraziers realize that family is very important – once a week, they have a "family night" where they go to movies, swim, or picnic together.  Safety of the children is their priority. They attend all Foster care meetings and training sessions and have been instrumental in several reunifications cases, by assisting natural parents after the children have returned to their homes.

We thank and appreciate the Fraziers, and all of our foster parents, all year long, but we especially recognize them in May during Foster Care awareness month.

Hoyleton Youth and Family Services is a division of Lifelink, a Bensenville, IL based social services organization that serves a diverse population of those in need, from babies to senior citizens. Both Hoyleton and Lifelink are faith-based organizations, with roots in the United Church of Christ.
